We have been home for the past several days because of snow so it has been the perfect time to work on my new dollhouse and get out the Valentine decorations.
Before I get started I wanted to thank Kathy over at HOME AND GARDEN THURSDAY for featuring my dollhouse as the most viewed thrifting post of her party.
Here are the vignettes I created, I hope you enjoy them.
I used some vintage lace, ornaments that I added pretty embellishments to and some candy boxes. Hubby knows if it isn't a pretty box, don't buy it! When it comes to candy boxes, it's not what's on the inside that counts, but what's on the OUTSIDE! *winks*
The paper valentine, calling card and postcard are all antique. The round tin had a rose scented candle in it once upon a time and the LOVE heart is a Longaberger basket tie on that has always been my favorite.
Another antique postcard...
Below is the piece of lace with cherubs pulling a cherub in a cart that I got at a garage sale over the Summer for $2. And I even got the handpainted cherub heart dish for $2 at an antiques mall.
The bon bon dish and tongs are antiques also.
So as you can see, I had fun creating Valentine vignettes but when all was said and done I decided to keep the below items on the dining room table.
Took the candy boxes to the parlor and put them on the parlor table,
and a few of the other things were placed on the pier table in the parlor. I call it a parlor but it's really just our living room. ;-)
And then the dolls house got decorated for Valentine's Day just a little bit too. The dining room table is graced with a white pitcher and red roses from Hobby Lobby, a heart cake, a metal cupid, 2 presents and a teddy bear waiting patiently in the chair. Notice the little gold cherub pick in the roses, isn't it cute?
The table in the kitchen has been decorated with a couple of cakes, a ruby glass pitcher, and a tea set.
Speaking of tea, what TIME is it?! It's tea time! Not really, I just wanted to show you a few of my miniature tea sets and tell you about the cakes and clocks. Marie from Creations by Marie Antoinette and Edie Marie, who by the way makes the most fabulous dolls you've ever seen, by creating a miniature theater scene in the dress part of the doll. Well she has "takin a liking" to my blog and my miniatures and because of that she sent me a box full of miniatures that she didn't need! I have never had anyone send me something like that free of charge, I have only ever received things like that because I buy them off of Ebay! So that was very exciting indeed and I felt very honored that she chose me to have these! The case clock was a kit and I just finished assembling it, it was a perfect snow day project! Thank you again Marie!

Well that is it for now, thank you so much for visiting and have a wonderful Valentine's Day.

Oh, lucky, lucky you! Thanks so much for sharing. Your "big house" decor is lovely too, but the dollhouse Valentine decor is my fave. Susan
ReplyDeleteI just love minitures and visiting your blog has helped me from missing my dall house. I fancy the lace it really sets off the valentines. The idea of the box being beter than what is in it is just my speed, Idon't often tell others I buy lovely boxes but give away the chocolates as I don' t like them.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to get all. That in the mail. Love the little cake and the kitten drinking the spilled milk.
