A Teacart for the Dining Room!

I have been wanting an antique Victorian marble top side board for years now and have not found the right one, in looks or in price, so I settled for a teacart to put in its spot until I get one.

I got it at one of our estate sales at half price, so for $32.50. It is not antique but is a pretty dark wood that I like. And it is not fancy in the least, but I will fix that by what I put on it.
But first let me show you what I had been using in that corner before. Yes, a school desk, and not Victorian AT ALL!

But with a tablecloth and doily, this is what it looked like. Not too much space for displaying a whole lot...

so that's where I thought this teacart would be better. Better for more stuff!

And more stuff it got! lol So on the top shelf I put the same three things, the cruet set, wax fruit dome and water tipper. And with it being the Autumn season, I brought out my Rogers Bros. 1906 Charter Oak pattern teaspoons and sauce ladle, only pieces I have in this pattern.

A closer look at the acorn and leaf detail.

And on the bottom shelf, to go along with the acorn pattern on the flatware, is a bridesbasket/bowl with paper mache acorns.

And where is the teapot for this tea cart you may be asking? Well, right here! The "Old Paris" teapot and even a Nippon style chocolate pot, no markings.

And a few sterling spoons in the glass spooner. A recent estate sale find. Spoons $3 each.

So there you have it, my newly dressed teacart.
Still not enough room though! ha ha

And now, for my Patriotic Thanksgiving centerpiece...

"Let Thanksgiving, our American holiday...awaken in American hearts the love of home and of country, of thankfulness to God and peace between brethren."

In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the first national Thanksgiving proclamation, setting the last Thursday in November as a national holiday.

Wishing my American friends a blessed Happy Thanksgiving day!

Enjoying November in the Back Yard

November will soon be a distant memory, so I wanted to enjoy some of its beauty in the back yard before the frost hits. The mum is still blooming so beautifully, and looks so pretty with the orange of the pumpkin.

Moving the pumpkin over here, where it fits just perfect in the small birdbath That I got at a sale for $10.

The Zinnias mark the spot where my precious little Livy dog is buried, although the blooms are looking a little faded and spent. The purple mum is still bright and pretty, and in the background on the fence gracing the iron planter...

are the vincas showing off their pink blooms.

Lacey wants to get a closer look because she is quite fond of pink.

Deciding against it, she settled here instead

where she could keep her eye on this suspicious fella

and maybe even catch a glimpse of a church goer or two! Tweet! Tweet!

Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful week!

The Day After

Hello and happy "Day After"! I woke up feeling somewhat happy and hopeful this morning and decided to bring out the red, white and blue to celebrate a bit. And for the upcoming Veteran's Day on Friday.

So out came the large bunting...

the small planter flags, garden flag, and the small buntings...

and inside on the parlor table I created a little red, white and blue vignette

using a 1907 postcard that reads "My Country 'tis of thee, Sweet land of liberty", a pair of antique spectacles, a 1906 ruby flash paper weight,

and 2 antique books... an 1892 "The Beautiful Tree of Life" and an 1899 "Mark Twain A Connecticut Yankee, etc.". I know, nothing really to do with the election, just the right colors for my vignette! :)

I need to go out and dig in the yard now but thank you so much for your visit and may God bless you and yours!
