Latest Finds

These latest finds span from over the Summer up until now. I hope you enjoy seeing them.
A lot of them are dollhouse miniatures but not all of them, there are a few antique items as well.
Let me warn you, I have gone miniature crazy!

The below minis I got all from one dealer. My favorite is the fancy little wall shelf. I have taken the plant out of the other wood piece and will use it as a magazine rack...maybe. The little oval mirror is kind of old I think, the frame is tin, so it is kind of cool.

The below items came from our local Historical Society's garage sale...

The hand painted house is a wall hanging key holder. The little clock I got to make into a framed mirror for my dollhouse.

See the white doily looking thing underneath everything? Well that is my favorite find of that sale! Isn't it gorgeous with all those cherubs? They have more of a butterfly wing look then a feather look though, so I don't know what you call them exactly.

Just look at the detail work on it. I got it for $3!

At a different sale I bought these concrete geese for my garden. The little one's neck is cracked but that's okay. Got them both for $8, not too bad for a broken neck!

And now for a few little souvenir pieces that I recently acquired. I got the little cup and saucer on Ebay for $6, I thought it was so cute. It's hard to find both the cup and saucer together.
And see the little oval picture with the needlepoint looking flowers? The frame is metal and has Italy on it. I thought it was really neat.

And finally, a find that is not miniature! I got these 4 Royal Albert Old Country Roses teacups/saucers to go with my tea kettle. Got them for $6 a set (cup and saucer being a set). I've always adored this pattern, so pretty!

This past weekend my mom and I went for a drive to see the pretty Fall trees and get in some antique and flea market looking/shopping. It was a beautiful day but not much color left on the trees.
But I did buy some things.
I got these two things (not minis). The shell piece is a St. Louis Worlds Fair Souvenir. Not all that pretty but for 50 cents I thought it might like it with my other vintage shell pieces. And then there's this egg...

look at how gorgeous it is with it's little door opened up! And it was only $4! Plastic egg and base though.

And I have saved the best find for last! An 1800's walnut writing desk.

You are going to think I'm crazy when I show you what I'm using it for! I'll give you a clue, I'm moving it up to my bedroom...

I needed a table for my dollhouse!! See I told you I've gone crazy! But doesn't it look good?

So now I can open it up and play all day! Ha!
I also got this rug this weekend. Sorry the photo is a little blurry.

So that is it for my latest finds. I want to leave you with a little glimpse of my miniature Halloween party.

Fall Historic Homes Tour in Boonville

Welcome to my "just a little bit" Fall decorated house. For some reason I just don't decorate a lot for Fall but I sure am loving all the Fall decorating posts I'm seeing out there. Way to go ladies! You are all so inspiring!
We'll start out at my house and then I'll take you to see the Historic homes of Boonville, Missouri.
Pictured below is a silver plated antique brides basket filled with Red Delicious apples and an amber art glass mug filled with apple cider. I got it for a dollar at a local antiques mall and I thought it was so pretty with the enamel work decorating it. It seems to have a little Fall flair to it.

Inside I have a little tablescape going on in the dining room and THAT is as decorated as it gets for now. I'll be taking it down next week and getting out the Halloween for a while and then Fall goes back up again.

For the centerpiece I used a pumpkin tea lite holder and placed it on a cake stand for some added height

and used two glitzy crows for a little bit of bling. One on this side with the yummy candy corn...

and the other one over here. This is my favorite side. I had a little fun with some minis. I got 3 mini hay bales and this red lantern you see at a garage sale last weekend. So I added my little scarecrow plant pick and a few candy pumpkins and am good to go.

And now, I want to show you some beautiful Victorian homes in a small town here in Missouri. Several of my pieces of Victorian furniture came from auctions here in this town. My dream is to live in this wonderful little town. Sigh...
I took these photos late last Fall with the intent of showing them here on my blog. One year later, here they are. This is just an outside "drive by" homes tour, no inside views at this time.

Look at this one (below), the paint colors just scream out Autumn, don't they?

The next two photos were taken around Christmas time.
Below is the DAR home. They open up for tours every Christmas. It is absolutely gorgeous inside! If you are interested in reading more about it click here. It was built in 1895.

And the house below is just across the river, and has even been flooded a few times. It is a Bed and Breakfast and is supposed to be haunted by the owner who was a steamboat captain, or something like that. It was built in 1869. If you are interested in reading more about it please click here.

Back at home Livy dog wants to say thanks for coming along on the tour and have a great week!

I want to thank Sandi for featuring my Miniature Bedroom furniture post as the most viewed post at her HOME party over at Rose Chintz Cottage.   http://sandimyyellowdoor.blogspot.com/2013/10/home.html
