Remember how I shared with you my weakness for antique chairs and eggs? Well I have yet ANOTHER weakness and this one is silver plated pieces! (I like sterling also but can't afford it even though I do have a few smaller pieces, like a TINY salt spoon!) I think most of these pieces are 1870-1885 or so and have that aesthetic look. I love all of the detail in these pieces and want to share their beauty with you. So, let's take a look inside, shall we?
Below is my favorite spoon that hangs on the sugar bowl. I think it's so fancy and I LOVE fancy!
Napkin rings are so much fun and are so easy to find. I really like the figural one's but do not have too many of those. I have the one chick and egg ring and the other chick pieces that I showed on my Easter post and then I have the two below. We had parakeets for several years so when I saw this one I had to buy it. Look at the Cherub one, isn't it sweet? I use that one for my napkin. The other one I think used to have something there that held little salt and pepper shakers or something, you can tell where they have been removed. I like the front feet on that one, it is an open winged bird on a branch.
These little cuties are salt cellars! Water lillies, I believe. The two in the back are a little larger so those two may be egg holders/cups? And I didn't even buy them at the same places! Can you believe that luck?
I'm not sure what this piece is but I totally love the detail on it...
I really like the detail on this domed butter dish and the handles are really cool.
And now for the top shelf. I don't really know what this piece is either but there again...I LOVED the detail on it. I think it might be some sort of an epergne but the vase has obviously been replaced and I don't think I could ever find one that fits it any better then this one.
Look at the detail on its base. Isn't it neat?! It has two different kinds of birds, a bug that looks like a lightning bug or potato bug and the butterfly or moth. And look at the feet, they're gargoyles!
These pieces are part of a tea set. The handles are kind of cool and look at the feet. There is a single stemmed flower in a vase on each foot. It's kind of hard to see.
An adorable chocolate pot. The detail makes it look so elegant. Ignore the embroidered flowers reflecting in it.
A cake basket with pretty birds and leaves on it. I think there are also lily of the valley on it.
Another cake basket with super cute detail. I like the pie crust look on the edges.
My castor set and yes most of you have already seen this one on my dining room post. I decided to show it again...sorry! *winks*
This brides bowl and holder are married pieces that I put together. I thought the holder was so pretty and I had this bowl that belonged to my grandma and it almost fits it perfect. I have moved this piece from my gold china cabinet to a table in the parlor.
And back to the foyer/front hall...
a calling card holder with a bird on it, like my spooner/sugar bowl. From this post can you tell that I like birds?
I'm so glad you came for a visit and I'll be looking forward to our visit again next week!
Have a great weekend!

What a beautiful collection you have! Your bird pieces are exquisite. I especially love that spoon! So pretty. I love Victorian calling cards, too, and have some in my foyer. Thanks for the inspiration today!
ReplyDeleteGina: You have quite a collection and most beautiful also. I kind of like the unpolished look to silver, gives it personality. I say that because what little I have NEED a good polishing..Beautiful..Happy Friday..Judy

I remember going to my Grandmother's on sunday and seeing similar items on the table at dinner. The sugar bowls , salt cellars - didn't think much about it then, but now looking back-these items made the table look so inviting with the crystal and silver shining.
ReplyDeleteNice collection and thanks for sharing, made me reflect back to a happy time with Grandma.

Beautiful pieces, Gina. I especially like the pickle castor. Just love that zippered glass. Thank you for sharing at Every Room In The House. ~ Nancy
