Antique Ornaments and the Parlor Feather Tree

Wow, it's almost Christmas and I am just now posting my Christmas decorating. I just got the big tree up last night, my son wanted me to wait for him to come home from college so he could help, I thought that was so cute! One of those traditions that I treasure. Family and togetherness, and Christ, that's what it's all about.

Because I am so behind and have so much to show I am going to be posting a series of Christmas decorating posts, so today's post is on the antique ornaments I have gathered over the past year from working at all the estate sales. In the off season you can get Christmas decorations/ornaments for a steal!

German made, mercury glass garland and baubles, bird clip on-minus the tail,

candy container stocking, tinsel garland,

figural glass ornaments,

clip on rose ornaments,

and this wonderful angel hair dresden type ornament!

Can you tell I REALLY like these?! Sorry for so many pictures!

Now for the feather tree! I know I show this every year, but I added these ornaments this year, so it is a bit different. :)

It is different this year also because of the silver pedestal that it is resting on...

Purchased at an auction a couple of weeks ago in a nearby Historic town. Also pictured, to go with the holly theme of the tree base, are a little cardboard chest of drawers, German Santa piece on stand,

and a mother of pearl calligraphy set in its original box.

So there you have it, this year's feather tree in the parlor!

  7. Your feather tree is just beautiful! Displaying it on a silver pedestal stand really makes it shine! I used to work at estate sales also, and was able to get an actual antique feather tree at one. I love all your vintage ornaments. I have been collecting the old figural light bulbs for a few years now and display them all together in a cut glass dish.

  12. Love your vintage ornaments. I have a lot of the same ones you have and I treasure them. The bird clip-on usually has an angel hair tail and I often find it inside the bird. You might shake it to see if it is in there. Happy Christmas.
