A Teacart for the Dining Room!

I have been wanting an antique Victorian marble top side board for years now and have not found the right one, in looks or in price, so I settled for a teacart to put in its spot until I get one.

I got it at one of our estate sales at half price, so for $32.50. It is not antique but is a pretty dark wood that I like. And it is not fancy in the least, but I will fix that by what I put on it.
But first let me show you what I had been using in that corner before. Yes, a school desk, and not Victorian AT ALL!

But with a tablecloth and doily, this is what it looked like. Not too much space for displaying a whole lot...

so that's where I thought this teacart would be better. Better for more stuff!

And more stuff it got! lol So on the top shelf I put the same three things, the cruet set, wax fruit dome and water tipper. And with it being the Autumn season, I brought out my Rogers Bros. 1906 Charter Oak pattern teaspoons and sauce ladle, only pieces I have in this pattern.

A closer look at the acorn and leaf detail.

And on the bottom shelf, to go along with the acorn pattern on the flatware, is a bridesbasket/bowl with paper mache acorns.

And where is the teapot for this tea cart you may be asking? Well, right here! The "Old Paris" teapot and even a Nippon style chocolate pot, no markings.

And a few sterling spoons in the glass spooner. A recent estate sale find. Spoons $3 each.

So there you have it, my newly dressed teacart.
Still not enough room though! ha ha

And now, for my Patriotic Thanksgiving centerpiece...

"Let Thanksgiving, our American holiday...awaken in American hearts the love of home and of country, of thankfulness to God and peace between brethren."

Sarah J. Hale
Editor of Godey's Lady's Book

In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the first national Thanksgiving proclamation, setting the last Thursday in November as a national holiday.

Wishing my American friends a blessed Happy Thanksgiving day!

What a wonderful find! I never ever see a tea cart around here. You did manage to display all kinds of lovely things on it. I love the vintage silverware! I took a peek at your previous post too and I had to smile because I always set a big ole orange pumpkin in mine too. Thanks for your visit and I wish you and your family a Very Happy Thanksgiving!

  19. Hi Gina! I love finding treasures like your tea cart. Great job! So pretty and beats that school desk hands down. I just finished a book about English decorating and you've nailed the hallmarks they mentioned like dark wood and silver tea things. Pat @ Bringing French Country Home

  23. Oh your new tea cart is lovely! You were able to get some many beautiful things on it. I always enjoy mine, changing out the tea sets, and display various silver patterns. The acorn one is not one I have seen before, perfect for Thanksgiving. And of course the postcards, the best, cheapest, most beautiful decor item there is!

  26. Hi Gina, glad you dropped by! yes, we raised our kids in a big old historic Victorian house, built 1880. Loved every minute of it! We are now in a 1940s era home, we have downsized and we are loving this chapter as well! I adore old houses and could never live in anything new. LOL
