The Colors of Winter

We finally got snow! We actually got snow a week ago but it melted away and this morning I woke up to big wet fluffy snowflakes that once again covered the ground. To celebrate I created a centerpiece on my dining room table using my opalescent blue Jewel and Fan pattern bowl, made by the Jefferson Glass Company in the early 1900's, as the inspiration piece.

I bought the placemats at a garage sale a couple of years ago and thought they might fit in well, a little too off white but they'll work and they'll help keep the tablecloth clean so that's always a plus.

I used white candles to represent the white snow that covered the ground.

The glass prisms represent icicles and I used my glittery snowball ornaments once again. I made the paper snowflakes.

The bowl is not the original brides bowl that would have went with this silver plated holder, I just put the two together. And therefore I have made it a "married piece".

I love the way the blue looks with silver, and how the blue reflects in the plateau mirror

I recently bought these two napkin rings for $1 each. The one of the left has a fan on it and initials, the other one has Allie engraved on the underside.

Here is a glimpse looking outside the window, and a cute little snowman flag

and here is this cute snowman, my first snowman decoration, that I bought since my last post when I said I had none.

Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful week!

  3. Hi Gina,
What a cute snowman! I get such a kick out of folks who don't often have snow. It is such a novelty for them. Here on PEI, we get pretty tired of it after a while especially after the horrific winter we had last year. Your table looks lovely with the blue bowl and snowballs. I like the handle you placed on the bowl too and I adore crystal prisms! Thanks for sharing with us and enjoy your snow!

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  9. Hi Gina! Your table is beautiful! I love how you've put it all together. I personally love to see different shades of white, off-white and cream mixed together. Your placemats were a nice find. The marriage of the silver piece and glass bowl is lovely. Thanks so much for stopping by. Marie is so creative and we had an incredible time together! Blessings, Edie Marie

  11. Your centerpiece is beautiful. You have some very nice pieces there to enjoy. Liked seeing your pretties. Mister Snowman is darling.
I need to dig mine out of the garage and frankly it's just too cold to be out there. If I'd just brave it I'd be froze. Last week it was like Spring. This week the North Pole.
    Blessings to you!

  12. Hi Gina. Love the "married" piece, that color of blue is so pleasing. That is such a cute little snowman, and you did get a lot of snow it looks like. We've had some rain but no more snow since Christmas Eve. Gina, for some reason your comment to me yesterday didn't show up in the in-box, ( or I just plain missed it) so I didn't realize it was there until I wanted to answer to someone who doesn't have an address, and when I went to my post comments I saw yours. Sorry I didn't get back to you right away. Thank you for such kind words and I ordered that snowman head from K P Creek Gifts. I get their catalog and they have some really cute items and the prices are not very much. I think I paid $9 for the head. They showed it in a box made out of 4X4"s but I just stuck it in that wine bottle. I thought it was pretty cute too..Happy Wednesday..Judy
