Summer Flowers and a Few Finds

Hello everyone,

The flowers have been so pretty here, that is if you can keep the deer, the rabbits, the Japanese beatles and the purple finch from eating everything!  Because of this I have lots of different fencing, netting and tomato cages throughout the flower beds so please just ignore that.
I want to take you to my back flower garden and show you a little staging that I had some fun with

and all because I wanted to show you one of my latest finds. This cute little concrete pedestal, I got it for $2.50!

So of course I had to dress it up a bit with some pink, a tatted hanky and a Limoges teacup and saucer...

to tie in with the Pink Surprise Lilies, or naked ladies, as some people call them...

and the pink cone flowers...

Beyond the pink the Black eyed Susan's create a welcoming splash of yellow...

And you know me, a staging just isn't a staging without some sort of ephemera...

so out came the Victorian scrapbook, with the pretty cover that fits perfectly in a garden scene with the birds, nest, flowers and even a spiderweb with the spider!

I wanted to pick something to tie in with the black eyed Susan's and found that I only had two things out of everything in that scrapbook

and the card on the left, in the left hand corner, even has a coneflower on it! How about that?

Now we'll move over to the back of the house where I wanted to show you my clematis covered trellis, last time I showed you the trellis it was new. As soon as the vine dies down I will be painting it white.

And a closer look at the daylilies, that the deer love!

Around to the side of the house are my tiger lilies and I even brought out my antique cross frame picture to photograph with it.

The print is early 1900's and is called "Blackberry Lily". I had not heard of them being called that until I bought this picture. I have had it for a while, it is a little faded so I hung it in the Laundry room. Also in the picture are white bleeding hearts and some other sort of white petaled blossoms.

Well that is it for the garden tour, thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful weekend!

  18. my gosh - the clematis is so beautiful! Love that color! Never here a bargain like you find where you are. What a deal of $2.50 for the pedestal.
I was wondering why my lillies were not coming back, I didn't know deer liked them but that is what obviously got mine along with some other plants I am missing.
Good idea about the chicken wire and one I must use more of around my flowers.
I do put the rat wire in the ground mounded to plant some of my flowers in now.
Your garden arbor will be so nice painted white with the vivid purple clematis climbing it. Thank you for the garden tour. I love your garden sign too.

  25. Forgot to mention the cute pedestal. It probably was a base for a concrete birdbath, but so cute for your teacup!
