Seashore Vacation and Antiques!

Hello everyone,
Back in June my family and I went to Destin, Florida for a week. Below is the view from our 16th floor condo. Such a beautiful sight and beautiful sounds from our balcony!

I won't bore you too much by showing too many vacation photos but thought you might enjoy seeing our nautical decorated bedroom...

and a cute little vignette on the entertainment center in the living room...

Below is the view of the seashore from the swimming pool. We spent a lot of time there (on the beach), as you can imagine.

In between spending time at the shore, we went to Bass Pro Shop...

and had fun photographing the kids with this big ol' thing... (fake of course)

had some wonderful seafood at The Crab Trap, well actually the food made me sick, but anyway!

And of course I got to see some beautiful antiques!! The highlight of my week!
We went to two places, here are a few things from the first place that caught my eye,
a beautiful antique walnut bed...

this sweet little alabaster cherub statue...

a clam full of seashells, which I adore!

and a beautiful etched mirror.

Even more things caught my eye at this second place! It was just wonderful! It was called Antiques on Holiday. What a cute name right?

View as we came down from the second floor...

Lots of beautiful chandeliers, oil paintings,

gilt mirrors, WHITE PEACOCK feathers!!! $450 for those in that brass urn!

This pretty French piece, I forget what you call it...

and these guys caught my eye, (and a closer look at the piece from the above photo).

More wonderful gilt mirrors,

this beautiful peacock jardiniere stand...

more gilt mirrors and oil paintings,

lots and lots of Victorian glass domes, but without the contents! Shoot!! I wanted a bird dome!

And this gorgeous armoire! Believe me, I wanted it all!! But no, I did not buy anything...

but I did come home with precious memories and lots of seashells from our wonderful vacation, and that is enough for me!

See the sweet little embroidered mermaid? I wish I could say that I bought her at one of those Florida antique shops, but I did not.

Thank you so much for your visit and have a great week!

  2. Great photos of you and your family. I like seeing vacation pictures. I post mine so family can see them that do not live close by.
Beautiful white sand and emerald colored water, looks like all of you had a good time.
Like the peacock vase and the brass urn will probably be around for some time at that price. I do like brass but not at that price, the etched mirror is gorgeous.
Terrible to get sick eating out on vacation especially.
Both the grands and my son got sick after vacationing in Florida. I just got a very bad headache.
You have some very nice shells collected. Like you I do like collecting shells and displaying them. I like to collect rocks as souveniers too.

What a beautiful beach, the sand is so white!
I would have drooled over those antique shops too...the gilt mirrors being especially tempting.
Well, I hope you are enjoying being home, with lots of fresh ideas - they, at least, are free!!

  7. You didn't say where you were, but it looks like Destin to me. I grew up in that area along the Gulf Coast. No matter where it was, it looks like you had a wonderful time!

  12. Hello Gina,
Thank you for taking us on all these wonderful trips with you. I feel refreshed as if I was there with you and your beautiful family. I went all the way back to Christmas to make sure I was up to date and I'm so impressed with your sense of details in everything you do. How nice to you visited Richard. All these antique places you show us, my gosh, how I wish I was there with you. Thank you so much. Your blog is delightful.

  19. hey how did I miss that place? My sons and their wife's live in PCB. I love Destin,Rosemary Beach and all up 30A. Will be leaving in November to spend a month with the kids. I will have to scout this shop out. I scour the south from NOLA to MS. for finds. The south is not like SoCalif at all!!
Glad you all had a great time, we'll until you ate out.
