Latest Finds

These latest finds span from over the Summer up until now. I hope you enjoy seeing them.
A lot of them are dollhouse miniatures but not all of them, there are a few antique items as well.
Let me warn you, I have gone miniature crazy!

The below minis I got all from one dealer. My favorite is the fancy little wall shelf. I have taken the plant out of the other wood piece and will use it as a magazine rack...maybe. The little oval mirror is kind of old I think, the frame is tin, so it is kind of cool.

The below items came from our local Historical Society's garage sale...

The hand painted house is a wall hanging key holder. The little clock I got to make into a framed mirror for my dollhouse.

See the white doily looking thing underneath everything? Well that is my favorite find of that sale! Isn't it gorgeous with all those cherubs? They have more of a butterfly wing look then a feather look though, so I don't know what you call them exactly.

Just look at the detail work on it. I got it for $3!

At a different sale I bought these concrete geese for my garden. The little one's neck is cracked but that's okay. Got them both for $8, not too bad for a broken neck!

And now for a few little souvenir pieces that I recently acquired. I got the little cup and saucer on Ebay for $6, I thought it was so cute. It's hard to find both the cup and saucer together.
And see the little oval picture with the needlepoint looking flowers? The frame is metal and has Italy on it. I thought it was really neat.

And finally, a find that is not miniature! I got these 4 Royal Albert Old Country Roses teacups/saucers to go with my tea kettle. Got them for $6 a set (cup and saucer being a set). I've always adored this pattern, so pretty!

This past weekend my mom and I went for a drive to see the pretty Fall trees and get in some antique and flea market looking/shopping. It was a beautiful day but not much color left on the trees.
But I did buy some things.
I got these two things (not minis). The shell piece is a St. Louis Worlds Fair Souvenir. Not all that pretty but for 50 cents I thought it might like it with my other vintage shell pieces. And then there's this egg...

look at how gorgeous it is with it's little door opened up! And it was only $4! Plastic egg and base though.

And I have saved the best find for last! An 1800's walnut writing desk.

You are going to think I'm crazy when I show you what I'm using it for! I'll give you a clue, I'm moving it up to my bedroom...

I needed a table for my dollhouse!! See I told you I've gone crazy! But doesn't it look good?

So now I can open it up and play all day! Ha!
I also got this rug this weekend. Sorry the photo is a little blurry.

So that is it for my latest finds. I want to leave you with a little glimpse of my miniature Halloween party.

  2. Hi Gina,
All your minis are so cute! You did very well with your finds. I cannot believe you found the OCR teacups for $6 a set! What a deal! The kettle is sweet too.
Your friend came a little too late to PEI if she was hoping to see some tourist attractions. Pretty much everything like that is closed for the season by now. That's too bad! The Island is pretty during the month of October however with the changing leaves and the grass is still fairly green. Thank you for sharing and coming to tea. Enjoy your week.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  6. If a few of your miniatures end up missing, you know where to come find them! I'm thrilled to have another miniature friend. Even though our house is still decorated from top to bottom for Halloween, I'm already plotting how to decorate my dollhouses for Christmas. Your table is perfect for your dollhouse. What a beautiful find. I had so much fun spying all your little details in your dollhouse rooms. I'll be visiting this post again!

  20. Hi Gina. I'm so glad I came across your blog because i love this post. I've recently saved a doll's house from a thrift store and am looking for inspiration to fix it up, (I've never done it before!) I've started a Pinterest board to help me and I love that whole Victorian look, but this is more like a cape cod cottage. It's going to be so great. Off to read some more of your posts now. :) (Sorry about the delete, my butterfly brain can't cope with multitasking while little trick-or-treaters are around...lol)

  23. Wow, that desk is really beautiful! You have been having fun, haven't you? That doily is gorgeous, too. I'm making a Christmas lantern "craft" for my blog, it will be on there around the end of Nov. you could use one of your minis in one of them if you ever wanted to make one. Thanks so much for sharing this at my We Call It Olde Link Up this week. Hope to see you again Tuesday. -Dawn @ We Call It Junkin.com
