Recently I bought this antique German porcelain shoe. I just adored the sweet little cherubs even though they both have suffered a broken wing. I am planning to restore them, after all I only paid $5 for it. As pretty as the shoe was in itself I just had to add some peonies to the vignette, add some more shoes and make it a shoe vignette! So here it is...
As you can see, I used my trusty ol' dresser tray lined with lace , my pressed glass boot vase to hold the peonies, that match the bloom on the gold shoe. The cherub shoe is hand painted and I'm thinking is from the the mid to late 1800's. See the little round piece with the little hook on the heel part of the shoe? I was wondering what the heck that thing could possibly be when it occurred to me that it must have been used to hang your pocket watch in. Now how nifty is that?! (I don't have a pocket watch to show you what it would look like.)
Just in case you did not see the blooms in last week's post, here they are in my Queen Victoria tumbler.
And here is what I did with all the blooms that I cut off of the rain beaten bush...
I wet the statue so it would look better for the photos. I didn't realize it had so much moss (or whatever you call it) on it either. It looks pretty bad, I will have to scrub that off pretty soon.
A closer view of the blooms...
and a view from the front door. I'm afraid I have freaked out my cute little feathered friends by adding the blooms to their bath...
it looks like the only visitor I will get is the one below...
Have a great week and thank you for visiting. I am joining the following parties, please come and join us.

Gina, wow, those peonies are gorgeous! They make me happy. You arranged them beautifully in the bird bath. Such a beautiful Queen Victoria tumbler.
ReplyDeletethank you for your most encouraging words and prayers. xo Linda
Prettiest pinks I have ever seen. Love the way you have them displayed and I like the little bit of whatever it is on the birdbath. Looks aged and I like it that way.
ReplyDeleteHappy Memorial Day

You must feel like Cinderella with all of those glass slippers! I sure wish peony stems were sturdy enough to stand tall when the blooms are heavy after a shower. You have such lovely blooms and made a charming display.
ReplyDeleteDebra
What an exquisite shoe! The peony makes a perfect companion for it. And I just oohed and ahhed when I saw how you display the peony blooms in your birdbath! How picturesque is that, and very romantic.

Good afternoon Gina,
ReplyDeleteYour peonies are so scrumptious! I love them so very much but alas, I don't have any. They look pretty in the bird bath.
You had asked about our Island. Well, the population is around 145,000 and yes, we have many grocery stores including the big box ones. Target is opening here in the late Fall which will be nice. We are quite civilized, I assure you although a little more conservative than the rest of the country. But that's the way we like it. A very lovely and safe place to bring up one's children!
As for tea drinking...Tea drinking is a lovely pasttime which one can enjoy all year round. I can enjoy it even on a very hot day and yes, I will enjoy it from a teacup. Although I tend to drink it from a mug if I'm in a hurry or outside. Contrary to what some may think, hot tea can help cool you when you're too hot.
I hope I've answered all your questions and I hope you're having a lovely day.
Blessings,
Sandi
Our weather is too hot for peonies so I am very envious of these beauties. I loved the way you styled them. Yes, I am addicted to making vignettes for the blog, too!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Gina... Those peonies are glorious. They are so delicate and romantic. Mine should be blooming any day now. Love your vignette.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog too. Your kind words are appreciated.
Janet

It's been raining here all day. Makes me glad that my Peonies are still just in bud. Love how you placed yours in the bird bath and I actually love the moss on the statue! The shoes are darling! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
