Hello everyone! Anybody go to any good garage sales this past weekend? I have not been to many but last Friday decided to go to a church garage sale. Right away I spotted a beautiful silver plated tray and tea set and knew I had to have that tray! I had been looking for one for quite some time, so there it was! BUT...it was priced at $80! It is not antique by any means and the finial was broken off of one of the teapots, so I did not even want the tea set. I didn't say anything about it and just left (because I'm really trying to save my $ for an antique walnut sideboard) but as the weekend progressed I couldn't get that tray out of my mind and so I went back on Sunday (half price day), did a little talking and got the tray for $18! And here it is! I really like the detail work on it..
Part of the reason I wanted it was for staging vignettes for my blog. And as I told my hubby, to use it for taking him breakfast in bed! (lol) I have never taken him breakfast in bed so now I guess I better do it!
But anyway...yesterday I went grocery shopping and bought 2 things that make me very happy! A Victorian magazine and a piece of TURTLE CHEESECAKE ! Who can resist that?! Well I couldn't wait to get home and look through that magazine while savoring every bite of that cheesecake. There was a nice breeze outside so I decided to go out on the front porch. And that's where my tray came in handy. So here is my little staged area. My neighbors must think I'm crazy always out on my porch taking pictures of stuff!
A closer view...
I'll share a few of my favorite page views with you...
This parlor is pretty with its antique furniture and fretwork in the doorway.
And look at this bedroom! Gorgeous bed and dresser!
And Victorian Shell art, I love it! These pieces are not antique though, the article is about the lady who makes them and why she started making them (the real ones are too expensive).
Here are a few of her pieces she made. To see my post on my antique shell art pieces click here.
As you can see I only showed Victorian page views. After all I am a Victorian Wanna Be, don't you know!
(I get that "don't you know" from the Baldwin sisters on the Walton's! Love that show.)
But anyway, if Victorian isn't your cup of tea, you'll also find some retro decorating and some whimsical decorating AND some rustic decorating in this issue. So don't wait too long! Run out and buy one today before they're all gone! Have a great weekend!
I love the tray! It is beautiful! Great find!
ReplyDeleteHi Gina,
ReplyDeleteYour silver tray is a real find for 18 dollars! I'm so happy you were able to get it! You will find lots of use for it, I'm sure. The cheesecake looks yummy and that magazine looks interesting! Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings,
Sandi
The tray is a great find at a great price. Thanks for showing pictures in the magazine. I love Victorian. I like the early Victorian rooms with the velvet curtains, can't help it, love velvet curtains. I don't have any in my house though. The later Victorian style not so much.
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing the magazine.
I must say I would take that cheesecake right now on a napkin, looks mighty good.
Happy Saturday
Betsy
Gina,
ReplyDeleteLove your tray! But I can't beleive the inital price of $80 for it!!
This magazine used to be Country Victorian and last year at this time, the printed the first one with a different name. I just picked up my issue and love it. I also got the new issue of Victorian Homes.
Did you see in Vintage and Victorian that it will be printed twice a year? Country Victorian was down to yearly from quarterly. I have almost all the old issues....
Hugs,
Deb

ReplyDeleteHi Gina, thank you for dropping by, I followed you home in return.. Your tray is beautiful all the details on it.. It does look wonderful with the pie, tea, and Victorian magazine.. Gotta love Victorian... oh with a big splash of shabby chic...Cindy
ReplyDeleteOh you sweet talker -- negotiating the price down to $18! Can't believe the original price at a church garage sale. It is lovely and certainly made carrying your treat out to the porch easier.

Hi Gina!! *waving arms in air* It was soooo good to hear from you!! Thank you so much for stopping by and your kind words. OK
ReplyDelete...Let me see I have lots to say *winks* First....SCORE!! On that tray!! What a beauty! I found a similar one at the Goodwill for $10.99, but it's not nearly as pretty as yours. Secondly YUM-O on that turtle pie and milk! Honestly I bet your neighbors are as jealous as can be seeing you living beautifully on that porch of yours *winks* And the tray makes a perfect frame to the Victorian pictures you've shared. I totally agree, perfect for vignettes. I've never seen that magazine before. I'll certainly be keeping my eyes open for it now....Looks pretty delish too! Vanna
Gina,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by! I just had to drop by and tell you that those pumpkins that were by the wagon outside are actually faux pumpkins!! LOL! I use them every year instead of buying real ones each year!! LOL!!
Have a great weeekend!
Hugs,
Deb
What a beautiful set up you have! And I so need to get this magazine!
ReplyDeleteI love this magazine, also. So neat to find people that incorporate that style into their homes. And anyone with cheesecake is an instant friend of mine :)
