Hello everyone, Christmas is only 5 days away and we just got the ornaments on our tree this week, after my son arrived home from college. I had placed my Victorian inspired ornaments on my silver tray to admire while waiting for him and thought it made a pretty display in itself.
I put a few of my favorites here on the parlor table beneath the feather tree,
and using some antique scrap pieces made a few of my own.
Then I brought out my favorite teacup, my "latest find" teacup, and staged a little romance!
When I spied this beauty at one of our sales, it was love at first sight! Teacup love!
Hand painted Noritake Nippon love! $5 love!
I found an antique mall with some beautiful ornaments for only 25 cents each! My kind of ornaments! Victorian all the way!
This sweet hand painted cherub
More cherubs on the tin ornament and the hand painted "Italy" tiny cherubs. The glass peach ornaments were 50 cents each.
These ornaments scream out 1990's, don't they? I loved the ornaments from that time and buy them when I find them. Especially when they are 25 cents each!
Below is a vignette using a small decorated tree, again probably made in the 90's maybe even the 80's, with an adorable crazy quilt tree skirt, a reproduction counted cross stitch candle screen,
and a page from an antique children's book...
"A Christmas Fairy" by Lizzie Lawson Mack, a famous late nineteenth century children's book illustrator. It is Christmas Eve and she has fallen asleep waiting for dear old St. Nick and during her slumber has a dream where a beautiful little Christmas fairy comes in by way of the fireplace with a gift of a doll for this sweet little one.
A crazy quilt stocking hanging from the mantel, waiting to be filled!
In the meantime, a cookie exchange!! I baked and dipped 6 dozen of these white cake petit fours...
and came home with 6 dozen of assorted goodies...
And here is a wish for you, my sweet blogger friends...
May you have a Happy Christmas and a most joyous New Year! Thank you all so much for your friendship and inspiration. Sending Christmas hugs to all of you!

ReplyDeleteI hardly know where to start but how about just passing that basket of goodies around? Your Petite Fours were amazing. Can you believe l990 was now 25 years ago. Seems like just yesterday and when I saw that tree - I thought, Oh, my I could have made that as I made soooooo many for my shop back then. All your ornaments are lovely. On the tray they looked beautiful! Hope you week is wonderful with family and friends!
Merry Christmas to you! Love your decorations. You did well. All the best to you in 2016. Can you believe that 2016 is near? I can't. Having to slow down and soak it all in.

Your ornaments looked really great just laying on your silver serving tray.
Anyone who wants to visit a victorian home should call you,it's as pretty as any Victorian home tour you have taken me on.
Merry Christmas dear friend
Janice
Your ornaments are wonderful! You have one antique one that I also have and yours is the only other one I have seen like it. It is the metal star with angel scrap art with the tinsel hanging down on the table in the first picture. I bought an old antique tree topper back in the early 90's at a thrift store to use for parts since it was broken. I started to throw the box away but there was a piece of tissue in the bottom and I thought I should check. I was so glad I did because wrapped inside was this wonderful ornament.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Michele
Hi Michele,
DeleteSo nice to hear from you. That is so cool that you have an ornament just my little antique one, so glad you didn't throw it away! :)
Thanks so much for your visit and have a blessed and Happy Christmas!
Gina
Love all of your Victorian ornaments. There is just something about vintage and antique ornaments that are so pretty -- they certainly have a patina. And you are so good at vignettes!
ReplyDeleteYum those peite fours look good! I attended a cookie exchange at my cousins church. It was fun with the older ladies and all their American Fostoria and tea pots etc. Keep thinking it was something my Grandmother would of been at. Your ornaments are a great find. The Victorian ones are beautiful. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteOh Gina,
ReplyDeleteI do love your taste in everything! It would be such fun to go treasure hunting together but we would want the same things! Lol! Your newest Noritake teacup is absolutely gorgeous and has left me swooning. The embossing and oval pics on it make it exquisite. I didn't know that the pic on my Santa teacup was old. I found it for $3 with the matching tea plate in a little thrift store. I do love thrifting! Have a Wonderful Christmas Dear Gina! Blessings! Karen
All of your ornaments are so sweet! Have a very Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty ornaments! A plate of those delicious looking goodies would sure be good right now!
ReplyDeleteThose "90's" ornaments remind me of some my mom had when I was in high school. I always loved them and yours brought back good memories! Merry Christmas to you!

Merry Victorian Christmas Gina from Biloxi, Mississippi. It's about 80 here but I still have that White Christmas spirit. I'll be back and blogging in Alabama soon. There are some jam-up good auctions coming up on New Year's. Marshel

I agree that the ornaments made a pretty display. Fun to have them out to enjoy! Often, some are lost on the tree and you don't notice all of the wonderful detail. The teacup is gorgeous and what a bargain! I swear I use to have that little teapot cardboard box. Your cookies look simply delicious. And I love the stocking! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
