First Antique Find of 2015

Hello everyone! I went to an antique auction this past weekend and bought my first antique for the New Year! It isn't a piece of furniture although I did bid on an antique walnut half commode but did not get it. I had a limit and stuck to it. And I saw a marble top dresser that I almost bid on and did not and now I keep wishing I would have but then keep telling myself to forget about it! We just got through Christmas, my son will be going off to college soon AND we are going to Florida this Summer! So there goes any antique furniture (at least for now!)

Okay,  so here is what I did buy!

A pair of beautiful porcelain bisque ladies!

They date to around 1878, are French, Vion and Baury, and stand 20" tall, much taller then the last pair that I bought for the mantle. This pair I got for a song because the fingers on one hand were broken off during the move from the owner's home to the auction house, but because the pieces were kept I glued them right back on and you can hardly tell.
So anyway, are you ready for some close ups?

They are hand painted with such beautiful detail work. This gal looks like some sort of a queen or princess with her crown...

she reminds me of  the lady in this picture that I have hanging here in the dining room...

she is Queen Louise of Prussia, the most famous Beauty of the 18th Century.

And here is the other gal with a blue head band on...

Aren't they just gorgeous?

Here is a back view of their hair...

some side views...

and some bird views...

And now, where to put them right? Since my mantle is full...

they will just have to go up here for now...

and join some more birds!

Well that is it for now, thank you so much for stopping by and may you have a blessed 2015!
