Antique Finds for the Mantel

Hello everyone! I have been out buying again and for some reason I always find things that I feel need to go on a mantel. So today I bought this 19th century porcelain bisque pair at an Antique Mall.
FOR THE MANTEL.

But the other day, I bought these 19th century Old Paris porcelain vases off of Ebay.
FOR THE MANTEL.

And a couple of years ago I had bought these antique candlesticks at an auction.
FOR THE MANTEL.

So see, I'm telling you, I have lots of pairs of things for the mantel. At the time the candle sticks did not get put on the mantel but on the pier table instead.

Below are the pair of antique art glass vases that I had on the mantel. I know they aren't pink like all the other pairs but they do look good with peacock feathers right? And I love peacock feathers!

Here is what the mantel looked like before today...

so with my new purchases I decided to take away the blue vases with the peacock feathers and change it up a bit. But, before the porcelain figures get put on the mantel, I had to get a shot of them with my other porcelain boy, aren't they cute in all that pink?

And here they are on the mantel.

Or maybe I should change up the frames and figurines like this instead?

Hmmm...what do you think, is that better? I'm thinking I still need some height going on there next to the mirror. So what if I add the vases back in there like this?!

What do you think? Keep in mind, Victorian's were all about busy. Is it too busy?

I just love all of that prettiness! Whether it's all in one place or not.

So please share your thoughts or advice with me.

As for the Old Paris vases, they are over on the pier table now.

Aren't they sweet, I just love them. The girl has a birdcage and the boy is holding the bird.

Have a great week and thank you so much for visiting. Again, please let me know your thoughts on the mantel.

  1. Gina,
I love all the pretties that you bought for the mantle and personally, I like it with all of it on the mantle, I mean after all the Victorians loved decoration and the more the merrier! I adore peacock feathers and indeed I have a stuffed peacock in my house, so of course I think you should keep them out, but I know whatever you decide it will be beautiful!! Happy decorating.

I think you should line the entire mantle with just the figurines! How lovely they are! I'd like a tour of your house. Susan

  14. It is not easy, when you got so many pretty things to chose from! I love the blue-green vases, which look like Art Nouveau. I would not mix them with the lovely Victorian porcelain figurines.
