Miniature Happenings

Hello everyone! It's been a while so I thought I had better stop in to say hello and show you some things I have been working on.
I finally got around to making the lattice for the front porch of the blue farmhouse. It was a very tedious job but it is done.
Now I will turn my thoughts to making the little bit of  board that shows into a yard of some sort with some landscaping. I went to Michael's and Hobby Lobby yesterday and found a few clearance bushes that I thought might work for lilac bushes and rose bushes. I will need to make the lilac bushes a little fuller and make some roses to put on the rose bushes. So I'll keep you posted on that.

I recently bought a little Hotel but it is 1/2" scale instead of the 1" scale like my other pieces but it was still kind of fun. I added a little color to it, added blue background inside the windows and added the shades. Replaced the tired old flower pot in the window and added another one to the porch. Hung a little lantern from the ceiling and a little cup from the "Loretta's home cooked meals" sign. So, anyway, that's that. :-)
And here it is with the bakery, I kind of have the start of a little village going on here. I have seen other little matching shops but have not purchased them, so now maybe I'll have too, huh?

I've also added a few little fun things to the second floor of my Olde Curiosity Shop...
Can you pick them out? Just kidding! Nothing major, I just added the Gone with the Wind lamp and the dollhouse.

And on this side I added that wonderful little crocheted coverlet on the foot of the bed, isn't it cute? And I added the washbowl and pitcher and the little white wood slat footstool, it goes with one of those outdoor yard chairs, that I don't have, and I can't think of the name of it right now.

And then check out this purchase I made for $5! It's a dacquerotype (sp?) that I really bought for the inside photo but look at the neat cover. Mary had a Little Lamb, how cute is that?

Here is the beautiful picture inside! It is dated 1858.

And here is where she hangs, inside my white dollhouse...

It was with much hesitation that I took her out of the case but I will keep the case and can put her back in there any time I want. :-)
Well my friends, that is it for now. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and have a great day!

  1. Hi Gina,
Amazing finds once again. I swear I need to come to your neck of the woods and shop...lol. I love the restoration on the hotel. You've really brightened it up without taking away it's charm. It fits perfect with that bakery too. Your curiosity shop has inspired me to create one. I have the room box...just need to finish it and fill it with all of my swaps and other minis. Great additions on yours and the dollhouse.
    Have a great weekend!
    Lisa :-)

  8. Hard at work, om gosh I love all the little changes you have been making. What a lovely locket and lady in frame to hang. I have a lot of respect for tedious little jobs and the people who make them happen. Lol, didn't notice the change in the curiosity shop, glad you pointed it out, so much to look at, too much fun. Thanks for sharing

  11. Hi Gina, Thank you so much for visiting my blog and becoming a follower. Now I'm your newest follower! I love what you did with the daguerreotype--it looks so perfect in your dollhouse! I have a Victorian dollhouse too, called Dad's Dollhouse mouse house. I finally completed it after my Dad built it for me in the 1970s. I grew up in the run-down Victorian house that my parents bought, fixed up, and decorated too, so Victorian design has been part of my life as long as I can remember, practically. Your post is fun and cheery, and I look forward to seeing more in the future. xo Jennifer
